Please protect children and smokers who make quit attempts by removing tobacco displays from the point of sale. 

Tobacco should not be treated like other products. It is highly addictive and kills half of its consumers. 

Tobacco companies need to recruit young people to replace those who die every year from smoking and the tobacco displays allow them to do this. 

Britain, Norway, Iceland, Thailand, Canada, Finland and Australia have all acted to remove tobacco displays. New Zealanders deserve the same level of protection from tobacco industry marketing as the citizens of those countries. 

New Zealand Medical Association, Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, Paediatric Society of New Zealand and many other medical organisations support the removal of tobacco displays. I support their stance and urge you to do the same. 

Tobacco should not be treated like other products. Please protect children and smokers trying to quit by removing tobacco displays from the point of sale
